We love our beef around here (hello, its our occupation and livelihood) and we also love tacos. Anytime I can come up with a new way to serve them that is a hit, well, that is a #WIN in this mama’s book! This simple sauce recipe can be whipped up in 2 minutes and can be made with your own “ketchup” if you want to keep it clean.
When we make this beef mixture, Hubs and the kids tend to chow it down served in a soft taco but I usually swap out the taco for a romain lettuce leaf and its so DELISH! We have this dish on a regular basis, like pretty much weekly… #noshame I tell myself its because its so versatile… Be careful, after you try it it just might make it into your weekly rotation too 😉
I’ll be linking up a homemade ketchup recipe soon and also the BBQ Rub that I use can be found here or you can swap it out for your fav spice mixture.
- 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Smokey BBQ Rub
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
Fry meat, onion & garlic until cooked completely
Mix together ketchup, BBQ rub and cider vinegar.
Add sauce mixture to the meat mixture and serve in a taco shell, lettuce leaves or a bun.
Finish with toppings of your choice and enjoy!
The meat and sauce mixture can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months which means you can make a big batch and store for later use!
